Upington City Football Club was established in 2021.

The club trains and plays its games in Upington, Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium. Upington City Football Club has about 12 players who are from surrounding areas and under the age 20.

In the first season (2021/23), Upington City FC, won Northern Cape Stream A log and qualified for the provincial playoffs, but did not make it to the national play offs.

On the 11^th June 2023 , Upington City FC were crowned the 2022/23 Champions of ABC Motsepe League after beating Orbit College(North-West) 3–1 in the final and were promoted to the 2023/24 National First Division League (officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons).
